Ok Blogger Girls...I need some help

I am trying to decide between a Cuttlebug and a Sizzix Big Shot.  What are your thoughts? What are the pros and cons of each? How are the prices between the two machines and even the embossing folders? I am looking to mainly emboss with them as I have a Cricut Expression. I don't know much about either one, so any information is helpful. I do more scrapbooking and paper crafting than card making. Thanks for the help!

  1. I've used both, but I own the Cuttlebug.

    Cuttlebug:
Pros: small and folds up, with a carrying handle so it's portable. You can use all the other brands' embossing and cutting plates in it, just have to play with the plate stack. CB embossing folders leave the best/cleanest impressions. Priced at under $60, I got mine on sale with a coupon for about $35.
Cons: suction-cup base doesn't always stick to the table. Smaller embossing folders, 3x5, but I've found some newer ones are coming out at 5x7 size. Sometimes tough to turn the crank handle, takes some muscle.

    Big Shot:
Pros: Heavy duty, sturdy machine. No wobble. Smooth feel when rolling, not a lot of effort required. Impression plates are larger, can emboss bigger pieces. Can use other brands in it as well.
Cons: Heavy to move around, doesn't fold up so not as portable and takes up more space on your table. Plates to stack are bound in a book, I found it fiddly to roll it through machine with the ends flapping out. Expensive, the ones I looked at were over $100, but I'm sure there are better deals out there.

    Hope this helps!
